The Limits of Science

  • Geisler and Turek talks about the limits of science. Science is great at explaining how stuff works in the natural world, but it can’t answer every question.  For example, science can explain how a fire burns, but it can’t tell you why fire even exists in the first place. Same goes for big questions like why we’re here and what’s right or wrong.
  • One of the most important point is that science cannot define that where the whole universe came from. Some people, like Geisler and Turek, argue that science can’t fully explain the universe’s origin. The Big Bang theory says the universe began, but they ask what caused that Big Bang? They believe science can’t answer this question. According to them, the Big Bang needs a cause, something outside our physical universe, and that cause is God.

Cosmological Argument

  • The both authors believes in Cosmological Argument. According to this argument everything has a cause in the universe and that cause is God. Some people don’t believe the universe could have started from nothing. They think it’s strange because in our daily lives, we don’t see things appear out of thin air. Since we can’t imagine the universe just popping into existence, they believe there must be a bigger reason, like a god, behind it all.

Moral Arguments

  • Many of people says that God exist because of right and wrong. Moreover, they say without the existence of God, the good and bad ideas are just like what people the society teaches us. On the other hand, many of people believes that several things and activities are always bad such as murder or hurting someone. Additionally, the authors says that God made certain rules to distinguished among right and wrong.

Brilliant Design

  • In this book, the writers talk about the designing of entire world. However, they say that there is a brilliant and in-depth designer who made the entire world in an accurate manner. On the other hand, they also argue that natural explanations like evolution and the multiverse theory does not able to define this whole order accurately.
  • Furthermore, the authors define several examples about the complexity of nature. On this way, they elaborate the detailed structure of human eye, the complex information in DNA, and the precise tuning of the physical constants in the universe.

Credibility of Bible

  • The writer in this book defines the historical reliability of Bible. However, they give several solid evidence which are supporting the truth of biblical events and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Moreover, the authors also respond the common doubts regarding the Bible’s trustworthiness. Additionally, one of the key pieces of evidence they discussed in this book is how many early copies of the New Testament exist, and how similar these copies are to the originals. They explain that the latest Testament is the best-preserved ancient document.

Common Objections

  • Geisler and Turek discusses several common objections in this book such as “If God exist, why is there so much evil and suffering in the world?” and “How can a loving God send people to hell?” However, the writers give in-depth answers of these all questions. They are in believe that the existence of evils is actually point out the existence of God. They also connected that without the existence of God, the people can’t distinguish among good and evil.

Faith and Reason

  • This book elaborates several reasons for the connection of Faith and Reason. So, the writers states that having faith and believes in God is not just blindly believing without any solid reasons. There are people who disagree with the idea that not believing in God makes the most sense. They say that even people who don’t believe in God (atheists) have to take things on faith. For example, atheists believe there’s no God and that everything can be explained by natural causes, even though they can’t necessarily prove it 100%. These folks, Geisler and Turek, believe it actually takes more faith to be an atheist than to just believe in God.

Final Remarks

  • “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist” says that people who don’t believe in God (atheists) might actually need more faith than those who do believe.
